Rainshadow Organics Farm Wedding

I got married at Rainshadow Organics in May 2023 – after experiencing an amazing dinner there and photographing a couple of weddings, I knew this was the place I wanted to get married! With that being said, I know and love this venue so much, and am able to help couples plan even the smallest details. Below is the rundown on the ceremony and reception spaces, plus photos from an actual Rainshadow wedding: Nicolette and Moshe’s September brunch wedding, which broke a few of the farm’s usual rules in the best way.

What Is Rainshadow Organics?

A working organic farm out near Sisters, Oregon, about 45 minutes from Bend. They host weddings sparingly and keep them small, usually capping at 50 guests. This is not a ballroom-and-chandelier venue. It’s dirt paths, garden rows, and produce that ends up on your dinner plate the week after it’s picked. (Some of the best food I’ve ever had!)

They grow the most beautiful flowers too, and most couples let the farm’s team build the bouquet, ceremony florals, and centerpieces straight from the garden. Nicolette and Moshe went rogue and had a family friend do their florals instead, proof the venue doesn’t force you into the in-house package for everything.

The Ceremony Space

Ceremonies happen outside, framed by fields, gardens, and the Cascades in the distance. There’s no indoor backup baked into the standard setup, so weather is a real conversation to have with your coordinator.

Fun fact from my own wedding: my ceremony wasn’t even on the main farm. Rainshadow lets you add a house across the street onto your package, which is where my husband and I stayed for the weekend, got ready and had our ceremony in the backyard. It’s a great option if you want your getting ready photos and ceremony backdrop to feel different from the reception! While there are other getting ready spaces nearby, I highly recommend renting the house the night before the wedding to feel relaxed and get ready the morning of.

Nicolette and Moshe’s guests rolled up in yellow school buses, dressed head to toe in cream and brown per the dress code, which looked beautiful against the blue sky and colorful flowers.Their day also happened to be one of the hottest Septembers Central Oregon has had in years. Not great for anyone in a three-piece suit, amazing for photos. The venue is perfect for couples who want a casual dressy guest code.

The Reception Space

Here’s my favorite part: dinner happens at long tables set up right in the garden, so you’re eating a few feet from where half your meal was grown. It’s the kind of setup that has guests walking around and talking instead of glued to their assigned seats.

Since my wedding was in May pre garden season, my reception was under the patio near the farm store. A different energy than the garden tables, still stunning, still unmistakably farm and cozy.

Most weddings here get a menu from Rainshadow’s in-house chef, built around whatever’s ready to harvest that season. Nicolette and Moshe brought in Bleu Bite Catering instead, still cooking with farm-grown ingredients for their brunch spread.

Their wedding is also the best proof that Rainshadow will bend for the right ask. The farm typically caps guest counts at 50, but Nicolette and Moshe got the green light for 100, a brunch-wedding exception the farm doesn’t usually make. A lesson that if your guest list runs bigger than “standard,” just ask. Worst case, they say no.

One more thing worth knowing: the base package is all-inclusive, and everything else is an add-on. Welcome party the night before, the Airbnb across the street, dessert, alcohol, all optional extras stacked on top. Made budgeting way less painful than pricing everything from zero!

FAQ About Weddings at Rainshadow

Is Rainshadow Organics only for small weddings? Usually, yes. 50 guests is the standard cap, but it’s worth reaching out to Mel, the onsite coordinator at the farm to ask. Nicolette and Moshe got approved for 100 for their brunch wedding, so a bigger guest list is doable but requires more logistics, such as shuttles for your guests and extra costs for dinner.

Do we need a wedding planner? Rainshadow does have an onsite coordinator, Mel, and she’s great, but her job is the venue side of things, not your wedding. She’ll help with anything tied directly to the property. A planner or day-of coordinator handles the stuff Rainshadow can’t, like your full timeline, coordinating arrival times with your other vendors, and troubleshooting when something inevitably goes sideways. Technically you don’t need one, but I’d recommend hiring one anyway. It’s the one thing I’d change about my own wedding if I could do it again.

How much does a Rainshadow Organics wedding cost? Rainshadow doesn’t publish pricing online, so you’ll need to reach out directly for a quote. What they do offer is a clear structure: an all-inclusive base package, then optional add-ons like the welcome party, the Airbnb across the street, dessert, and alcohol. That setup makes it easier to budget than venues that price everything a la carte from the start.

What if it rains, or it’s scorching hot? Both are real possibilities, since ceremony and reception spaces are outdoors. Nicolette and Moshe got a record-hot September; my own May wedding had rain and thunderstorms in the forecast, but never ended up hitting us. Loop in your coordinator early about shade, tenting, and ceremony timing around the forecast. The best time to get married at Rainshadow Organics is June-September.

If you want a wedding that’s personal, romantic, on the casual side and at a unique venue in Central Oregon, I can’t recommend Rainshadow Organics enough. It’s outdoors, it’s small, and the weather calls some of the shots. But dinner in the middle of the land that grew your meal is hard to top.
