Weddings are weird and wonderful and over way too fast. One minute you're panicking about the seating chart and the next you're on the dance floor at 10pm wondering how it all went so quickly. Blink and you'll miss it. The photos aren't the point, but they're how you get back there. To your dad's face during the father-daughter dance. To the friend who flew in from across the country and ugly cried during your vows. To the moment after walking down the aisle realizing this is actually happening
When it comes to my approach, think less "chin down, eyes here" and more "go grab a drink together and forget I exist." I give you just enough direction to feel comfortable, then get out of the way and let it be real.
Show up, be present, hug your people, eat the cake. I'll be there to bring you back to the moment later.
I’m not just here for the two of you, I’m here for your people.
Your mom fixing your hair. Your friends hyping you up. Your partner’s face when they see you for the first time. The whole messy, beautiful, emotional ecosystem that got you here.
I’m less interested in perfectly posed photos and more interested in what it actually felt like to be there. The laughter, the nerves, the “holy sh*t we’re married” energy. Photos that feel like you.
You won’t spend your day taking photos. I’ll be there paying attention, catching the moments that would’ve happened whether I had a camera or not. Because your story isn’t just one big moment, it’s a million tiny ones. The blink-and-you-miss-it kind.
“From our very first conversation, I knew Kayla was the right person to shoot our wedding, and she proved it a hundred times over. She’s not just incredibly talented, she’s the kind of person who makes everyone feel like a friend. Our day was more fun, more relaxed, and at times we honestly forgot we were even being photographed — that’s how comfortable she made us feel.”
