Vibrant Central Oregon House on Metolius Wedding
Although Emy and Dave live in San Francisco, they got engaged on the McKenzie River while kayaking. Given their adventurous spirits, they knew they had to return to Oregon to get married. I hear this often while chatting with couples – Central Oregon is an incredible place for couples who love beautiful mountain views, outdoor activities and adventure. Emy and Dave were relaxed and laid back while chatting through their details, they wanted simple and beautiful intentional details. Lots of color, embracing nature and celebrating their two families coming together.
Emy is a Swedish citizen, and they decided to incorporate some traditions from Swedish Midsummer festivals. Before the ceremony, guests were invited to create their own midsommarkrans, or midsummer wreaths. With the help of Blomstra Florals, each wildflower incorporated a label attached with its meaning, guests were encouraged to treat their headpieces like well wishes for the couple, sending them strength, friendship, etc. Their friend, Talia officiated and they had another friend play Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Star Spangled Banner’ on the electric guitar as they walked down the aisle after the ceremony.
House on Metolius Wedding Venue
When you’re driving into House on Metolius, it almost feels like you’re heading to the middle of nowhere—because you kind of are! Out of all the Central Oregon weddings I’ve photographed, I can confidently say that this venue is high on my favorites list because it feels so secluded in the best way. It’s like a modern summer camp for adults.
A House on Metolius wedding means exchanging vows with an absolutely stunning view of Mt. Jefferson. The venue is aptly named, sitting right off the Metolius River in Camp Sherman. House on Metolius has guest rooms in the main house for getting ready and accommodates up to 42 guests on the property, with private cabins available for the rest of your guests across its 200-acre property. Everything about House on Metolius is peaceful, featuring tasteful vintage decor and plenty of space to entertain for your rehearsal dinner and weekend festivities. Bonus points if you love to fish or fly fish!
Ceremony and Reception Options
- Outdoor Ceremonies: Most couples choose the meadow by the river, which has a direct view of Mt. Jefferson. There are also shaded lawn areas near the Main House and Eleanor’s Cabin.
- Reception Space: The venue has an outdoor patio next to the Main House. It seats up to 180 people and overlooks the river.
